Fare-Free Bus Rides

Written by •

Almost all regional transit authorities are fare-free until summer 2025!

Thanks to the Fair Share Amendment, the commitment of visionary legislators, and steadfast advocates, 13 of Massachusetts’ 15 regional transit authorities (RTAs)—including all three in Western MA—will be fare-free for all, at least until June 30, 2025.

  • Pioneer Valley Transit Authority (PVTA) is fare free from November 1st – June 30th, 2025, meaning no fares or passes will be needed to ride PVTA buses or vans (except premium service).
  • Franklin Regional Transit Authority (FRTA) continues to be fare free until June 30th, 2025 as well for their fixed bus route and ADA service.
  • Berkshire Regional Transit Authority (BRTA) will be fare free starting November 29th up until September 30th, 2025 for their fixed bus route and ADA paratransit service.

This is a great opportunity to take advantage of public transportation!
